Josephine Wills Obituary

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church for Mrs. Josephine Watts Wills, 95, Gadsden, who died April 27, 2014. The Rev. Charles E. Posey will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Hill Memorial Park. Watson & Sons Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Wills grew up in Ashland, Ala. In 1919, she united with Bethlehem Baptist Church. After moving to Gadsden, Ala., she joined Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church under the late Rev. W.M. Mallory. She later moved her membership to Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was a faithful member there until her health. She was a very hard worker.
People who knew her treasured and loved her because of her loving and caring personality, and the need to help others.
For the past nine years, Mrs. Wills resided at Gadsden Health and Rehab Center. While there, she was crowned Mrs. Gadsden Health Care in 2008. The family wishes to express their thanks for the staff who took the time to know and care for her, especially Mrs. Semetra Miller, Mrs. Latoya Moore and Mrs. Gladys Hoyt.
Mrs. Wills was preceded in death by her husband, James Willis; and her parents, Lewis Watts and Lillie Street Watts.
She leaves to cherish her memory, many nieces and nephews, Mrs. Laura Ware Jacobs, Dr. Lawrence R. Ware, both of Gadsden, Mrs. Vonnie Ware Fleming, Ms. Jo Ann Ware, Ms. Julie Ware, Ms. Negretta Ware Wilson and Mr. Schuessler L. Ware of Anniston, Mrs. Mary Ware Register of Sumter, S.C., Mr. James E. Ware of Selma, Attorney Charles J. Ware, Columbra, Md., and Mr. David Whitson of Mattapan, Miss.
Our hearts are heavy with grief, but our spirits are light with the joy of our aunt freed at last from her earthly cares and pains.
