Mike Goodson Obituary
Mr. Goodson was the author of five books about Gadsden and Etowah County. He was a historian and an Alabama fan. He was a sports correspondent and columnist for The Gadsden Times and sports editor of and The Gadsden Messenger. He loved animals, especially cats. Mr. Goodson was a Christian who was saved on June 6, 1976, at First Baptist Church of Gadsden, where he later served as deacon. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Goodson was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Goodson and Ruby Jo Cason.
He is survived by his sisters, Glenda Byars and Rebecca Jones (Earl); niece, Christie Weems (Rod) and nephew, Ryan Spurling.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Oden, Phil Hodges, Don Davis, Ron Johnson, Kevin Moore and Marvin Grier.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society.
Special thanks to Debbie Cobb and Amedisys Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Mike was a delight. Met him on Facebook. Enjoyed his post and Christian faith. Faith that could not be shattered. He loved his Lord and Savior. RIP my brother in Christ.

Thoughts & prayers to Glenda and to Mike's family. He was quite the historian of Gadsden and Etowah County and his stories will be missed. From all his friends at the Gadsden Public Library.

Goodson family, may God be with all of you at this time of celebration of life of Mike. I had know Mike and served with him on the Deacon board at FBC years ago. He was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge of the Gadsden area and as stated was an Alabama fan. I'm sure all of you will miss him and especially his historical writings and pics. I know he had been sick for sometime, but his body's is healed now. We will seem him again. RIP Mike till I see you on the other side one day!
