Phillip Spann Obituary

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Crestwood Chapel for Phillip Dwight "Phil" Spann, 55, Glencoe, who died on Saturday, May 28, 2011. Eulogy by Dennis Daugherty. Beth Mayes Connor will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Phil was a 1974 graduate of Glencoe High School. He was on the 1973-1974 state championship football team, where he made outstanding defensive back and all county defensive back his senior year. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved the Crimson Tide and the Bear. He could eat barbecue on any day of the week.
Phil was preceded in death by his dad, Billy D. Spann; grandparents, Leburn and Grace Spann and JT "Tom" and Alice Jennings.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Jennings Spann; sisters, Linda (Harvey) Scales and Beverly Gossett, Glencoe; nieces, Misty Coleman, Kristy (Clay) Johnson, Torri Gossett and Madison Coleman; nephews, Joshua Starnes, John Wesley Starnes, Broady Johnson, Jaxon Scales and Brock Johnson; daughter, Lisa Chavez Worsburg, Germany.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Daugherty, Mark Walden, Greg Davenport, David Holmes, Steve Black and Ricky Fanchier.
Thanks to Dr. H. Patel and staff, Wiregrass Hospice, Stephanie, Kristy, Alacare Hospice, VA Medical Clinic and all the many health care workers who helped care for Phil over the years. May God richly bless each of you.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

I´m very sorry to hear about Phil passing. I served with Phil in the U.S. Army. We went through basic training together and where station together in B.K. Germany. for three years. We went through a lot. He was always there when I needed him. Great friend. May Phil rest in peace. God´s riches blessings to the family.
