Sammy Hayes Obituary
Mr. Hayes was Southern Baptist by faith. He served in the US Army during Vietnam. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for a number of years and also owned Hayes Heavy Equipment Company. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman; he especially enjoyed rabbit hunting and raising beagles.
He was preceded in death by his son, Sammy Dale Hayes; parents: E. L. and Sara Hayes; brothers, Ernie, Sheriff James, Jerry Wayne, Johnny Dale, and Stanley Carl Hayes; sister, Camillia Hayes; nephew, Jacob Hayes.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Scott) Nowland; son, Adam Hayes; grandchildren, Cassidy (Bryan) Dorsett, Emily Chandler, Drake Nowland, and Savannah Hayes; great-grandchild, Sutton Camille Dorsett; brothers, Don Hayes, Allen (Betty) Hayes, Robert (Diane) Hayes, David (Valerie) Hayes, and John (Donna) Hayes; sisters, Janis Bussey, Mary Green, Deborah (Ronald) Rochester, and Lynn (Gary) Williams.
Pallbearers will be Mike Hayes, Dewayne Hayes, Jason Hayes, Brian Hayes, Justin Hayes, and Bryan Dorsett.
Honorary pallbearers will be the entire Ball Play Community.
Special thanks to nurses and doctors at Gadsden Regional Medical Center's SICU, McGuffey Rehab First, and Cherokee County Health & Rehab.
Family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
