Travis James Obituary

Travis James, 88, died Sunday, May 12, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County.
Mr. James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jane Cleveland James: one daughter, Suzanne James (Tracy) Bishop; two sons, Keith (Pam) James and David (Cindy) James. He was also survived by five grandchildren, Kacy (Pete) Lemons, Haley (Tim) Trammell, Matt (Caitlin) Bishop, Zach Bishop and Joel Bishop; three great-grandchildren, Blake Wright, Ty Trammell and A.J. Lemons. He was preceded in death by his parents, D.V. and Willie Campbell James.
Mr. James owned and operated Cherokee Milling Co. in Centre. He also served on the Board of Directors of Farmers and Merchants Bank and the Cherokee County Department of Human Resources. He was a Mason and a lifelong member of Centre First United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 15, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Mullaney and the Rev. Tommy Ledbetter officiating.

Honorary pallbearers include: Dean Buttram Jr., Billy Mack Garrett, Earl McPeak, Susan Kennedy-Jennings, Patricia Stefanac, Tommy Miller, Jimmy Miller, Jimmy St. Clair, Dewandee Neyman, John Higginbotham, Elise Keener, Dr. Brian Perry, Tommy Loder, Mack Hunter, Ed Hunter, Jerry Downey, Larry Day, Cherokee Milling Co. Inc. Employees.
William J. Kennedy Sunday School Class - Edrey Mae Kennedy, Novella, Broom, Ann Higginbotham, John Williams, the Rev. Sammy Stabler.
Caregivers - Brenda O'Dell, Kathy Richie, Rena Dupree, Carol Bigelow.
The family requests no flowers please. Memorial contributions may be made to Centre First United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
