W.T. Edwards Obituary
A native of Louisville, KY, his parents were Dr. and Mrs. W.T. Edwards Sr., now deceased. He was educated at Gadsden High School, Howard College (now Samford University) and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He pastored numerous churches, and he taught at Samford University in the Department of Religion for over 40 years. He served as chair of the department and was University Chaplain for a while. Many of his students became pastors who respected him and remembered him fondly, as he did them. He was a kind, gentle, and very private man, preferring to minister to others rather than seeking recognition for himself.
Thanks to everyone who provided care for him. Special thanks to Dr. Richard Trader, a cherished pastor of Dub who presented Dub's favorite scriptures before his entombment, and to all of the nurses and his physician, Dr. Steven Sanders. Be happy for him in his home in Heaven, which is more beautiful than anything he saw in this world. We, his family, all loved him so much. He is survived by his wife, Martha Espy Edwards; children; and grandchildren.

Martha, all my family loved Dr. Edwards and you. It meant so much to Mama when the 2 of you came to see her in Rehab.
I didn't know he had been suffering from cancer. I wish I had kept in touch better. Before TSBC moved, I was there and spoke to Troy Morrison and he said that Dr. E. was often there for services. We all loved TSBC and all it meant in our lives. May God bless you, beautiful lady, in these sad days.
