Blacksburg - Bobbie Jean Porter Brown, 88, of 577 South Rutherford Street, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, at home.
Born in Blacksburg, SC, she was the widow of W. C. "Brownie" Brown and the daughter of the late William and Vera Virginia Peeler Porter. Bobbie formerly worked for Charlotte and Davidson Police Department and was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg. She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Surviving Mrs. Brown are her daughter, Lena McEachern (Scott); her brother, Woodrow Porter; her sister, Sarah Zachary; her grandchildren, Tommy Cowart (Sarah), Ty Cobb, Cassidy Church, Samuel McEachern, Josiah McEachern, and William McEachern; her great-grandchildren, Taylor Cowart, Nolan Cowart, Anna Cowart, Salem McEachern, and Sage McEachern; and her greatgreat grandchild, Bowen McCarter.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her children, Russell Cobb, Rocky Cobb, and Renae Brown Johnson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:00am-12:00pm at First Baptist Church, 21 W Cherokee St, Blacksburg, SC 29702. Services will immediately follow, with Rev. Jeff Connell officiating. Interment will be at 2:00pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208.
