Brenda Erwin Obituary
Gaffney, SC - Brenda Sue Upchurch Erwin, 75, of 646 McKowns Mountain Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Born in Gaffney, she was the companion of Bobby Leon Gunnin for 47 years and daughter of the late Pearl Upchurch Manning. She retired from textiles and was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. She loved her family, flowers, gardening, cooking, dancing and traveling, especially to the mountains.
She is also survived by two sons, Bruce Erwin (Kimberly) and Eric Gunnin (Ashley), both of Gaffney; two daughters, Cynthia Spencer (Bruce) of Gaffney and Linda Barentine (Bubba) of Easley; eighteen grandchildren, Brandon Teague (Chelsey), Brittany Martin (Brandon), Justin Spencer (Kelsey), Haley Erwin, Katelynn Erwin, Blake Spencer (Morgan), Dillon Spencer, Levi Peeler, Caleb Peeler, Luke Mullinax, Ava Gunnin, Lane Hadden, Cameron Hadden, Taylor Hadden, Heather Phillips (Nick), Ashley Turner (Becca), Brandon Turner and Jessie Barentine; twenty great-grandchildren. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Johnny Erwin.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice Compassus for their loving care.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00PM on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Will Vergara officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
The family will be at home of Bruce & Cynthia Spencer, 131 Riddle Road, Gaffney, SC 29340.
