Cowpens, SC - Sarah Eloise Seay Mathis, 97, of 175 Washington Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at her residence.
Born in Pacolet, she was the widow of the late Wallace Mitchell Mathis, Sr. and daughter of the late William Kimsey Seay and Dora Pugh Seay. She was formerly employed by Converse Cotton Mill, retired from Mayfair Mills International, and a member of First Baptist Spartanburg. She loved her family, traveling, flowers and gardening.
Surviving is a son, Michael Mathis (Sandi) of Cowpens; a daughter-inlaw, Rita Mathis of Spartanburg; a sister, Nelleen Seay of Pacolet; five grandchildren, Michelle Brennan (Mark), Terri Edwards (Mickey), Mike Mathis, Jr. (Tami), John Gabriel Mathis (Shelly) and Charlotte Michael Mason (Daniel); ten greatgrandchildren; six greatgreat grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Wallace Mitchell Mathis, Jr.
Graveside services will follow be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Reverend Sal Barone officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
