Franklin Greer Obituary

Blacksburg - Franklin Clay Greer, 71, of 705 Seven Springs Street, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, at his residence.

Born in Shelby, he was the husband of Nancy Whisnant Greer and the son of the late Franklin Clay Greer and Geraldine Kinley Causby. Mr. Greer retired from Duke Energy after 37 years and was a member of Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church. He was a former member of Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Greer is survived by two sons, Clay Greer and Derrick Greer; three grandchildren, A.J. Greer, Charleigh Greer, and Ethan Greer.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Kay Packer and Day Cain.

Graveside services will be at Clingman Memorial Gardens on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 12 p.m. with Rev. Michael Owen, Rev. Virgil Hampton, and Mr. Cecil Bell officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery. The body will lie in state at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC. Greg Putman, Barklay Spencer, Jimmy Bolton, Keith Sarratt, Steven Bolton, JR Sexton and Joel West will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be at the residence of Clay Greer at 302 Hardin Street, Blacksburg, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 17, Blacksburg, SC 29702.
