Gaffney, SC - Jack Edward Vess, 92, of 609 Wilcox Avenue, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born in Old Fort, NC, he was the husband of the late Joanne Marie Stephens Vess and son of the late John Sullivan Vess and Edna McEntire Vess. He retired from Cherokee County 911 as a dispatcher and was of the Baptist faith. He loved his family, woodworking and mechanics.
Surviving are four sons, Danny Vess, Scott Vess, both of Gaffney, Jimmy Vess (Lori) of Blacksburg and Steve Vess (Kathy) of Landrum; two daughters, Debbie Phillips (Robert) and Tracy Vess (Chris Bailey) both of Gaffney; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer Forrester (Chase), Lee Damren, Joanna Allen (Rev. Ron), Heather Vess, Kinsey Black (Drew), Summer Vess, Breanna Vess, Mandy Long, Karen McCraw (Jason), Carol Nichols and Wendy Rollins; 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joe Edward Vess, a brother, Gene Vess, and two sisters, Charlotte Ramsey and Peggy Vess.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ron Allen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
The family will be at their respective homes.
