Gaffney, SC - James Patrick "Jimmy C" Cannon, 87, of 120 Hampshire Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Palmetto Patriots Home.
Born in Teaneck New Jersey, he was the devoted husband of the late Clare Dorothy Warnowicz Cannon and son of the late Arthur Cannon and Sarah Quinn Cannon. He retired from Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery and Cannon Real Estate Agency in Blairstown NJ, was a US Navy Veteran, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gaffney. Jimmy was a faithful friend of Bill W for over 47 years, and saw his life's purpose as helping and serving others. He loved his family and was an avid NY Yankees fan.
Surviving is a daughter, Mary Ellen Cannon Berger (Joseph) of Crozet, Virginia; two grandchildren, Eric James Berger (Mackenzie) of Nashville, TN and William Edwards Berger (Annie Stokes) of Leesburg, VA. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Cannon, two brothers, Arthur Cannon and John Cannon and a sister, Mary Howard.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at the Palmetto Patriots Home in Gaffney with Chaplain Jamison officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to World Central Kitchen at wck.org or guests can make in person donations to the Palmetto Patriots Employee Assistance Fund. Jim's family is forever grateful to the caring staff at Palmetto Patriots Home.
Jim and his wife's Clare's ashes will be buried with their late daughter Kathleen in Blairstown, NJ. A notice of this will be updated on this website when it is scheduled this spring.

Gladys Martin
Gaffney - Gladys M. Martin, 92, formerly of Blacksburg, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Brookview House.
Born in York, she was the widow of John Frank Martin and the daughter of the late William Casterable Claude Martin and Edna Pruitt Martin. Gladys formerly worked in textiles and was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Martin are her children: Johnny Walker Jr (Sandra), Daniel Walker Sr, Tim Walker (Mary), and Myra Walker Goodwin; a sister, Patricia Humphries; a special niece, Diane Jenkins; over sixty grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by eleven siblings and a son-in-law, James A. Goodwin.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at Smyrna Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 2:00pm. The family will be at their respective homes. The Blacksburg location of Gordon Mortuary is serving the Martin family.
