James Parker Obituary
Gaffney, SC - James Harley Parker, 82, of 127 Ramsey Street, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at his residence.
Born in Gaffney, he was the beloved husband of Joanne Kimbrell Parker for 61 wonderful years and son of the late Harvey Parker and Earsley Parker. He retired from Hoechst Celanese, was a S.C. National Guard member and of the Baptist faith. He was a great husband, dad and papa and had many friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Debbie Turner (David) of Spartanburg and Timmy Parker of Gaffney; a sister, Dot Pierce of Beaufort, SC; twelve grandchildren, Amanda Martin (Justen), Marissa Turner, Heather Turner, Travis Melton (Lindsey), Jessi Greene, T. J. Parker (Crystal), Dakota Parker, Cheyenne Parker, Brandon Parker, Felisha Humphries (James), Amber Parker and Kristen McCorkle (Willie); sixteen great-grandchildren, Savannah Martin, Logen Fowler, Jorden Fowler, Bodhi Reid Melton, Avery Greene, Timmy Parker, III, Emma- Jaymes Parker, Riley Fuller, Christopher Fuller, Jasmin Parker, Destiny Parker, Isabell Parker, Payton Moore, Kolton McEntire, Madison McCorkle and Alyssa McCorkle; sisters-in-law and special friends, Ailene McLean, Karen Betz (Joe), Peggy Williams and Faye Fleming; numerous nieces and nephews; most loyal "fur babies" River, Peanut, Baby Girl, Roxy and Hunter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Parker and his siblings, Eugene Parker, Harlan Parker, J. W. Parker, James Edward Parker and Charles Parker.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Cherokee County Humane Society, P.O. Box 2223, Gaffney, SC 29342.
The family will be at the residence, 127 Ramsey Street, Gaffney, SC 29341.
