Gaffney, SC - - Jimmy Dean Blanton, 78, of 207 Walnut Street, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Spartanburg Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Joann Hamby Blanton and son of the late Finney H. Blanton and Mary Willue Coker Blanton. He retired from textiles after 42 years of service, was a member of Blue Branch Baptist Church, and attended Berry Memorial Baptist Church. He loved his family, fishing, carpentry, and enjoyed football.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Jeffrey Dean Blanton and Timothy Dwayne "Red" Blanton, both of Gaffney; a daughter, Robin Lynn Swayngim (Raymond) of Gaffney; seven grandchildren, Casey Painter, Sarah Jo Coleman (Kevin), Nick Blanton, Jimmy Blanton, Matthew Wicks, Josh Wicks (Ceara), and Dylan Blanton; four great-grandchildren, Braylee, Elijah, Karabella, and Nash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Chucky Ray Blanton and a sister, Diane Duffie.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Berry Memorial Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the Church with Reverend Jim Parker and Reverend Eddie Smith officiating.
