Joyce Braddy

Gaffney, SC - Joyce Bright Kirby Braddy, 85, of 271 Old Race Track Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Oliver Bennett Braddy and daughter of the late Roy Edward Bright and Iris Grubb Bright. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School, the retired owner/operator of Four Seasons Fashions, and a member of Lake Murray Baptist Church. She loved her family, cooking, and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.

She is survived by two sons, Greg Kirby (Beth) of Charlotte, NC and Jeff Kirby (Renee) of Gaffney, SC; a daughter, Georgia Edmundson (Ian) of Lexington, SC; a stepdaughter, Sharon Chastina (Jamie) of Lexington, SC; two stepsons, Byron Braddy (Brenda) and Gary Braddy (Shontell), both of Charleston, SC; a sister, Jean Alred (Rex) of Buffalo, SC; numerous grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Don Bright and a sister, Julia Phillips.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Joyce's caregiver, Kathy Cantrell.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 1:00PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Danny Belcher officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Alzheimer's Association, 1901 Brunswick Avenue, #100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
