Blacksburg -- Lillian Starnes Manning, 82, of 378 White Farm Road, passed away on Saturday, July 16th, 2022, at Spartanburg Medical Center.
Born in Blacksburg, SC, she was the wife of Carnell Manning and the daughter of the late Zeb Baxter Starnes and Edna Painter Starnes. Mrs. Manning formerly worked at Hoechst Celenase and was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Manning are her husband, Carnell Manning; four sons, Dennis Manning (Tammy), Keith Manning (Amy), Scott Manning, and Kevin Manning; two daughters, Tammy Burgess and Cindy Wilson; two sisters, Brenda Cole and Martha Clark; two brothers, Zeb Starnes and Thomas Starnes; 8 grandchildren, Chad burgess, Tena Abernathy, Brad Burgess, Halee Batchelor, Christopher Manning, Adora Hughey, Jessica Hughey, and Dylan Wilson; 13 great-grandchildren, Makayla Pennington, Bryson Hughey, Leela Pennington, Amanda Manning, Karina Burgess, Corran Burgess, Lucas Sladeck, Brayden Burgess, Jrake Mullinax, Nala Mullinax, Dane Batchelor, Courtney Abernathy, and Candice Abernathy; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Manning was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances Hughey, her sisters, Mildred McDaniel and Minnie Petit, and her brother, Bobby Starnes.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Mt. Paran Baptist Church, 105 Mt. Paran Road, Blacksburg, SC. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. Joel Gardner officiating.. Interment will be at Clingman Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Chad Burgess, Brad Burgess, Christopher Manning, Dylan Wilson, Lucas Sladeck, and Jrake Mullinax will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be at the residence.
