Michael "Mickey" Baines

Gaffney, S.C. - Michael "Mickey" Wayne Baines, Sr., 74, of 113 Sheraton Loop, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Kathy Arthur Baines and son of the late Paul Baines and Louise Becknell Baines. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, a graduate of Limestone College, and retired from The Timken Company. Mickey was a U. S. Army Vietnam Veteran and the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid USC Gamecock fan, a trait which he passed on to his children, and was a member of First Baptist Spartanburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mickey Baines, Jr. (Andrea) of Reading, PA; two daughters, Neely Greene (Adam) and Stephanie Baines, both of Gaffney; a sister-in-law, Reida Baines of Indian Land; three grandchildren, Sara Baines, Charlie Baines and Lawson Greene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Baines.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Sal Barone officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
