Michael Howard Goforth, 75, of Fallston, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Hospice at Wendover, Shelby.
Born in Gaffney, SC on December 8, 1947, he was the youngest son of the late Samuel Clyde Goforth and Ruby Rebecca Montgomery Goforth. He was co owner and operator of Goforth Brothers Construction and was a member of Plainsview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a very skilled carpenter. He also served in the National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Johnny Goforth, Frank Goforth, Bill Goforth, Preston Goforth and Hugh Davis Goforth and two sisters, Judy Hill and Margery Stubbs.
Survivors include three sons, Kelly Goforth and wife Suzanne, Kevin Goforth and wife Ashley and Adam Goforth all of Fallston; daughter, Sonya Goforth Parton of Fallston; four brothers, Wilbur Goforth, Wilford Goforth, Neal Goforth and Wayne Goforth; three sisters, Doris Garner, Sue Jones and Dell Byars and eight grandchildren, Sunshine Parton, Sadie Parton, Logan Goforth, Lacie Goforth, Jackson Milburn, Laney Goforth, Wyatt Goforth and Cole Crain.
The visitation will be Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 2:00PM until 3:00PM at Plainsview Baptist Church.
The memorial service will be Saturday at 3:00PM at Plainsview Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating.
A meal will follow the service in the fellowship hall.
