Chesnee, SC - Frankie Ray "Rooster" Scruggs, 78, of 115 Walker Avenue, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born in Chesnee, he was the husband of the late Naomi Sexton Scruggs and son of the late Melvin Defoy "Rooster" Scruggs and Mary Willie Henderson Scruggs. He retired from All Metals Transportation and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Chesnee. He loved his family, playing billiards and was a car enthusiast.
Surviving are two sons, Billy Ray Scruggs (Angie) and Ray W. Scruggs, both of Chesnee; a daughter, Tammy Sue Parker of Chesnee; two stepdaughters, Brandi Harvey (Glenn) and DeAnna Sexton, both of Spartanburg; two sisters, Brenda Nordahl (Randy) of Inman and Margaret Hopper of Rutherfordton; a cousin raised like a brother, Sam Henderson (Norma Jean) of Spartanburg; nine grandchildren, Ashton Payne (Justin), Brittany Scruggs, Tamara Scruggs, Alyssa Parker, Jorden Ray Parker, Karlie Simpson (Devin), Blaine Parr (Allyson), Dare Pettit (Chris) and Talon Abbott (Stacy); nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas Martin.
The family will receive friends from 11:00AM until 12:00PM on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Southside Baptist Church in Chesnee. Memorial services will immediately follow at 12:00PM at the Church with Reverend Camden Bagwell and Reverend Dale Welch officiating.
In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to: Southside Baptist Church, 609 S. Alabama Street, Chesnee, SC 29323.
The family will be at the home of Billy Ray & Angie Scruggs, 166 Buckwood Acres, Chesnee, SC 29323.
