Blacksburg - Raymond Rains, 73, of Byers Circle, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, at his residence.
Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Edoffice Rains and Jo Ann Mullinax Provvedi. He enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and dogs, watching TV, and mowing his lawn.
Raymond is survived by a large loving family, including the following:
Biological children: Scott Rains, David Rains, and Wendy Rains Dover (Sam), from first marriage to Diane Richards
Step-children: Billy-Joe, Herbert, and Chris Smith from second marriage to Pat Smith
Biological child: Brenda Rains Denton (Dakota) from third marriage to Renia Rains, along with step-children Jonathan Richards (Kaye) and Ashley Henderson (Jordan), bonus child Sara Green, and grandchildren Phenix and Ryder Richards who he helped raise. He would also want his spoiled fur babies mentioned: Bandit, Tiny, and Roxy
Several grandchildren and great grandchildren: Heather and Edward Pennington (Sydney, Niko), Josh Henderson, Triston, Dillion, and Peyton Rains, Kirsty and Thomas Pence (Sophie, Andrew, Rhett, Olive), Christian Powell, Bailey and Kobi Dover (Bjorn, Koda), Chase Dover, Austin Dover and Melana Borders (Ayevah, Atlee), James and Samantha Williams (Jamie, Lilly), Samantha and Matt Peeler (Noah, Elijah), Haley and Victoria Rains, Waylon Henderson, and Phenix and Ryder as mentioned above.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Dakota Denton, Jordan Henderson, Jonathan Richards, Bobby Spencer, Adam Robinson, and Melvin Henderson, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
