Gaffney, SC - Robby Sanford Clary, 83, of 1236 Pacolet Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Palmetto Patriot's Home.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Judy Fowler Clary and son of the late Paul Sanford Clary and Ellen Parker Jackson. He retired from Hoechst Celanese, formerly worked at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, performed mission work with Alan Davis, and was a member of Pacolet Road Baptist Church. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a gift for making strangers feel like friends, and he showed his affection by giving the people he cared about a hard time, always with a twinkle in his eye. He believed in tough love, but couldn't resist spoiling his grandchildren with too much sugar in their grits or just one more round of cards before bed. His humor, his stubborn strength, and his quiet acts of love will be remembered by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, also surviving is a daughter, Deborah Sturtz (Tobey) of Belville, NC; a sister, Sybil Broome (Grover) of Fort Mill; seven grandchildren, DJ Blanton (Cindy), Robyn Blanton (Matt), Andrew Clary (Caroline), Shelbie Jarvis (Kavin), Eli Clary, Courtney Sturtz and Jordan Sturtz; three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Clary was preceded in death by his daughter, Robbin Annette Clary, his son, Paul Bryant Clary, and his sister, Diane Clary.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00PM on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mickey Mullinax, Dr. David Blake and Chaplain Wilbert Jamison officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the residence, 1236 Pacolet Highway, Gaffney, SC 29340.
