Gaffney, SC - Sandra (Sandy) Smith Huggin, 77, of 2517 Union Highway, ran to the open arms of Jesus on Monday, October 13th at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born in Rock Hill, SC she was the wife of John Elmore Huggin for the past 47 years and the daughter of the late John and Bertha Smith.
Those left to cherish her memories are her two sons Timothy John (Beth) and Daniel Huggin both of Gaffney; a sister Martha (Bobbie) Smith; a brother-in-law Robert Lee Huggin; grandchildren Leah Beth and Ethan John Huggin.
Also, the family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Mrs. Sandy's caregivers, Natasha Jefferies, Amy Gordon, Briana Dawkins, Allision Davis and Stacie Baldwin, for the loving care they provided.
A graduate of Gaffney High School, Spartanburg Technical College and Gardner Webb College, Sandra worked as an educator for the Cherokee County School District for 31 years, 26 of those years in the library of Draytonville Elementary. Sandy loved the Lord and loved helping others, especially helping children learn to read. She was a member of Buford Street United Methodist Church where she actively served on numerous committees, sang in the choir and ensured both of her boys attended every time the doors were opened. She recently joined Corinth Baptist Church. Sandy was also a long-time volunteer with Meals on Wheels with her husband John. Sandy loved the Lord, her family and sitting on the beach just watching the water.
