Gaffney, SC - Shelia Whitley Lemmonds, 71, of 818 Green River Road, went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2021 at Cherokee Medical Center.
Born in Monroe, NC, she was the wife of Kenneth "Ken" Ray Lemmonds and daughter of the late Clifford Whitley and Marie Griffin Whitley. She retired from the Cherokee County School District and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, WMU, assistant organist and Sunday School teacher. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, sewing and quilting.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, Kevin Wade Lemmonds of Spartanburg; a daughter-in-law, Nicole Lemmonds of Rock Hill; a brother, Scott Whitley (Karen) of Asheville, NC; a sister, Sherry Wall (Bill) of Durham, NC; a brother-in-law, Jerry Hilton of Monroe, NC; eight grandchildren, Gianna, Layla, Jaden, Jacob, Jackson, Jorga, Joshua and Julia Grace; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Christian Keith Lemmonds and a sister, Pam Hilton.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Macedonia Baptist Church. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 AM at the Church with Dr. Terry Duvall and Reverend Bryon McIntyre officiating. Social distancing and masks are requested.
