ANDREW KRIZANOSKY Obituary

KRIZANOSKY, ANDREW M.

Andrew M. Krizanosky, 89, passed away on October 20, 2012. He was born on August 19, 1923 in Forest City, Pennsylvania, a son of Andrew and Theresa Slota Krizanosky. He proudly served as a sonar man on a patrol craft in the Pacific during World War II. Andy graduated with a degree in engineering from Tri-State College in Indiana after his military service. He married Margaret Ellen Kennedy in Rochester, NY on Oct 5, 1957. He started his career in telephony at Rochester Telephone and worked for 40 years as an engineer for several independent telephone companies throughout the US. He retired in Longwood Florida from the Sprint Corporation in 1991.

He was an avid gardener, loved traveling and above all, his family. He and Margaret moved to Gainesville in 2006 where they lived at The Village and Andy served as Chair of the Village Garden Committee.

He was a devout Roman Catholic and member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Community. He was very active in the Patrol Craft Sailors Association and Independent Telephone Pioneer Association.

In 2009 he traveled to England to participate in the dedication of an Exercise Tiger Memorial, a World War II Naval Operation that resulted in the death of his brother Alexander and many other war heroes.

He is survived by his 3 children, Mary Suzanna, Ellen K. Bowser and Thomas Andrew, and two grandchildren, Andrew Paul Bowser and Katherine Anastasia Bowser. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret, his parents, and his siblings Mary, Irene, Alexander, Teresa, and Walter.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made in Andrew's name to either the St. Francis Catholic High School (SFCHS) scholarship fund or the Telephone Museum in Maitland Florida. Please mail donations to Advancement Office, SFCHS, 4100 NW 115th Terrace, Gainesville FL 32606 or to the Art and History Museums -Maitland, 231 W. Packwood Avenue, Maitland FL, 32751, in memory of Andrew Krizanosky.

A memorial Mass in his honor will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 24 at 10 am. Fr. Jeffrey McGowan will be presiding. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 25 at 1 pm at the Highland Memory Gardens, 3329 Semoran Blvd, Apopka. His family sincerely wishes to thank all his care givers and friends for their support and encouragement.

To the family of Andy Krizanosky: We were saddened to learn that our good friend, fellow telecommunications retiree and Telephone Pioneer had passed away Andy and his wife were very active in the Carl Hill Galloway Telephone Pioneer Club and, in particular, Andy had a great interest and dedication to the Maitland Historical Society's Telephone Museum. He was one of a kind and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to the family. May Andy rest in peace.
