CHAD HOOD Obituary
Chad William Hood, age 35 of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011. He was born August 10, 1975 in Gainesville, Florida and was a lifetime resident. Chad was employed by High Springs Fire Department as a firefighter. He attended North Central Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, camping, motorcycle riding and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Susan S. Hood of Gainesville; parents, Brian and Susan Hood of Gainesville; biological father, Lewis W. DeLoach of Winter Haven; son, Wyatt William Hood of Gainesville; special daughter, Michelle Gil of Kingston, FL; brothers, Jeremy (Ashley) Hood and Jonathan Hood, all of Gainesville; grandmothers, Beverly DeLoach of Winter Haven, Rebecca DeLoach of Gainesville and Lucille Hood of Palmyra, PA.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at North Central Baptist Church, 8001 NW 23rd Avenue, with Pastor Calvin Carr officiating. Interment will follow at Countryside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 4, 2011, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street.In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute to The Chad Hood Memorial Fund at any Capital City Bank or National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, P.O. Drawer 498 Emmitsburg, MD 21727.

Dear Susan, although I did not get to know Chad, but as a mother I feel yours and my brothers pain for the loss of a child,as I well know from the loss of my son. Brian, Susan, Susan,Jeremy and Jonathan, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I have known Chad since he was in middle school and watched him grow into a fine, responsible young man. He loved his wife, child and family immensely. Brian and Susan you did a wonderful job raising him. He was kind and sensitive and he will be missed by many. May God bless you in this time of need and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the entire family, I remember Chad being the sweetest kid back when I was around. Occasionally, I would still see him at David's throughout the years and he was still such a thoughful and respectful young man. I think his career choice describes him without saying anthing else. I know you guys are hurting and missing him, but he's with our Father now and will face no more pain. I'm proud to say that I knew Chad and the whole Hood clan. God Bless you all. To the Hood family, relatives, and close friends. I am so sorry about the loss of your son, brother, husband, father, grandson, nephew, and fellow firefighter. I did not know Chad all to well but I have known this family since middle school. My sister's worked at the restaurant Brain owns and have described him as funny, very caring, and a great person to be around. Two of my church members are Alachua County Firefighters and this too hit them hard, and saddened them to hear of the loss of a brother. I wish there were words to take away the pain you all feel at this time. That I or anyone could say something to help ease the pain of losing your loved one. The only comfort I can offer in words is that Chad is now with our Father and will forever be in His kingdom watching over each and everyone of you. He risked his life daily to help protect and save others in danger. A man of respect and honor. May God bless you all during this time of loss,and may he give you peace and comfort.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Susan,
I was so sorry to hear the tragic news about Chad. May all the wonderful moments you shared together living help to comfort you thru the difficult days. And most of all, may the God of Love sustain and strengthen you with His promise of HOPE for the future. When He will soon end all suffering on the earth. How do we know this is not just wishful thinking or a dream? Because what He says always comes to be.
"He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. And the One seated on the throne said; "Look! I am making all things NEW......these words are faithful and TRUE."
