JAIME ISAZA Obituary

ISAZA, JAIME
Dr. Jaime Isaza, a resident of Alachua, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 10, 2019 in Carmel, CA. Jaime was born to Benjamin and Noemi Isaza on October 20, 1924 in Cali, Colombia. He obtained his medical degree in Colombia where he practiced pediatric surgery. He also taught at the Universidad del Valle in Cali and founded a pediatric surgery wing at the university hospital. While on a fellowship at Columbia University in New York City, he met the love of his life, Judith Los, and they were married in 1953. They returned to Colombia where he continued to practice medicine until 1966, when he came to the University of Florida in Gainesville as a research associate. Later, he established an emergency room practice at Alachua General Hospital and continued working as an ER physician in Gainesville until his retirement in 1978. After retirement, Jaime and Judith moved to their farm outside Alachua, FL and enjoyed raising and showing Paso Fino horses for over 20 years. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. After Judith passed in 2011, Jaime spent his time visiting his daughter, Diana Angelis (Jim) in California, and his son, Ramiro Isaza (Natalie) in Florida, and his grandchildren, Alix Angelis (Vincent Cardinale) and Kris Angelis, and Erin Isaza and Ben Isaza. In addition to his children and grandchildren and their spouses, many nieces and nephews in the United States and Colombia survive Jaime. He was preceded in death by his wife Judith, his parents, and his brother Tulio and sister Clarita. Jaime led a long and rich life and was greatly admired, not only for his outstanding medical skills, but also for his kindness and compassion to those in need.
