Peter Philbrook Obituary
PETER J. 'PETE'
Peter J. 'Pete' Philbrook (74) of Gainesville, FL departed this plane of existence and entered the next phase of his cosmic journey on August 10, 2017.
Pete leaves his son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, Ben, Julie and Fox; his father Royce C. 'Pete' Philbrook; Ben's mother Tish Kilpatrick; and his four sisters Judith Shaw, Leta Collins, Carla Lennon and Cindy Tedder. Pete is also survived by his muse Staci Lake and countless family, friends, former colleagues and students of North Marion High School.
Pete was a passionate educator, loving father, oftentimes cantankerous consumer, and a lifelong Gator fan. His booming laughter, sharp mind, and generous heart will be missed. Services will be held at Silver Springs State Park on August 26th at 9:30 a.m.
All are welcome.

My sincere condolences to Ben, Julie and Fox, Pete's dad, Tish, his sisters, Staci, and his many friends! I worked with Pete for 17 years at North Marion High, and I treasure every conversation we had over those early years. We bonded over our passion for science fiction, liberal causes, and local teacher politics and our union. Those years with Pete and the rest of the Colt gang were wonderful! He amazed so many of us with his sharp humor, his satirical bent, his lawyer-ing mind, his knowledge, and his embracing friendship---there will never be another like Pete Philbrook!
