NETTLES, VICTOR 'VIC', 64
Lake Butler - Victor 'Vic' Nettles, 64, of Lake Butler passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Shands of UF in Gainesville, with his family by his side. Mr. Nettles was born on June 26, 1950 in Lake City, but lived most of his life in Lake Butler. Mr. Nettles is a U.S. Army Veteran, and served in the Vietnam War. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator clearing land and etc. He enjoyed spending his time with family, friends, and outdoors fishing. Mr. Nettles was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Lake Butler Ward. He was preceded in death by his father Ellis Nettles; son Tyler Nettles and sister Sandra Nettles Griffis.
He is survived by two daughters: Sherry Dutt, husband Patrick of Houston, Tx. and Brooke Nettles of Lake Butler; Son: Simon Nettles of Lake Butler; His mother: Miriam Nettles of Lake Butler; Brother: Tommy Nettles, wife Becky of Lake Butler; Three sister: Elaine Nettles of Lake Butler, Paulette Carlson, husband Randy of Dunellon, and Marsha Gonzalez of North Carolina.
Funeral Services for Mr. Nettles will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Lake Butler Ward, with Bishop Paul Waters officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake Butler. Family invites friends for visitation on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Archer Funeral Home. My Uncle Vic was among the funniest uncles in the world. Every time I came over to visit him, no matter what mood he was in, he would always have some joke or comment for me. Some of the jokes and comments I remember: Growing up he always said, "Hey Boy!. . . What you up to?"."I'm going to come and dance with you at your wedding." The very last visit I made with him was: "What ya stretchin them lips for?" (referring to me yawning) That day I was wearing a neon shirt and he said non-stop, "You look like a crossing gaurd". I had some shoes on and he said, "Girl, you got a big foot . . . what size shoe do you wear?" Last but not least, he said, "I'm going to come up in them mountains and visit you and your mom". I'm going to miss him so much and I'll never forget my Uncle Vic. He really was a great person. :) Love Your niece-Hannah Gonzalez
