Clyde Carlton Smith Obituary

Mr. Clyde Carlton Smith Sr., 72, of Braselton, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at his residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010, at Blackshear Place Baptist Church with interment to follow at 2 p.m. at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs. The Rev. Dave Channell will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born in Atlanta and is the son of the late Walter George Smith Sr. and Nellie Elaine (Moore) Smith. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geneva Estelle (Waters) Smith; daughter, Barbara Stewart; and a son, Clyde Carlton Smith Jr.

Mr. Smith is survived by his fiancé, Dorothy Tipton, Gainesville; sons, Charles Smith of Villa Rica and Michael Smith of Newnan; daughters, Anne Stamper, Wedowee, Ala., Debbie Wilson, Marietta, Carla Willard, Braselton, Cheryl Robinson, Flowery Branch, and Karen Forrester of Oakwood; 15 grandchildren; sister, Mary Riddle, Smyrna; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Blackshear Place Church Building Fund, 3428 Atlanta Highway, Flowery Branch, GA 30542.
