Elizabeth Rebecca Roper Pittman Obituary

Elizabeth Rebecca Roper Pittman, age 89, of Gainesville passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park with the Rev. Calvin Haney officiating. Interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pittman was born on Dec. 4, 1923, in Hall County, Ga., to the late John Allen Roper, Sr. and Cora Lee Kemp Roper. She was in Management at Sears for over 30 years, and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Mrs. Pittman is preceded in death by her husband, Claud Pittman.

Mrs. Pittman is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Garry C. and Rhetta Pittman, Duluth, Ga.; daughter, Carol P. Sawtelle, Gainesville; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Hamilton Coker, Murrayville; and brother and sister-in-law, John Allen, Jr. and Hilda Roper, Cumming, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 404 Washington St. NW, Gainesville, GA 30501.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504, is in charge of arrangements.
