Jake Gulledge Obituary

Dec. 19, 1968-April 12, 2017

Mr. Jake Gulledge, age 48, of Flowery Branch passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center - Gainesville, following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, at 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville. Pastor Chris Morgan and the Rev. Mitch Gulledge will officiate. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mr. Gulledge was born Dec. 19, 1968 to Theron & Elaine Gulledge in Florence, S.C. He was a member of 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville and a Worship Leader. Just Worship! This was Jake's passion in life. I can't imagine my life not seeing him lead worship, but I know he is singing at the precious feet of our Lord Jesus tonight and my heart is full. Jake Gulledge was called Home Wednesday, April 12, 2017, and Samuel and I are clinging to everything he poured into us about worship, laughter and fun. Please pray over us as we face the loss of our best friend. Jake, I will always love you.

Mr. Gulledge is survived by his wife, Denise Gulledge, of Flowery Branch; son, Samuel Gulledge; parents, Theron & Elaine Gulledge, of Ruby, S.C.; brother & sister-in-law, Mitch & Mary Gulledge, of Lancaster, S.C.; nieces, Brianna Gulledge and Cadee Gulledge; and nephew, Hunter Gulledge. He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Gulledge.

I have heard it said that singing is praying twice. When Jake sang, the Angels took pause. Heaven's Choir is even more magnificent!

God needed his talented angel. I never met Jake, but I saw him at volunteer night; I'm still laughing at his jokes and wonderful spirit. May God bless you and your son with strength and courage during the days to come.

I was fortunate enough to know Jake through Samuel. I taught Samuel when he was in the second grade. What a precious family! They were such a support to me throughout the year! Jake was such a sweet and caring husband and father. He was so talented and it was so evident how much he loved Jesus. I will never forget when he performed at Chestnut Mountain for us - I laughed so hard! I know Jake is with Jesus and having the time of his life. But please know Denise and Samuel that I am praying for both of you to know Jesus at this time like you have never known Him.

Jake was an inspiration to many people, myself included. He was a man who loved the Lord and was instrumental in leading many people to Christ. Youth week at Camp Pinehill will never be the same. I pray that GOD will comfort his family and that Samuel will continue in his father's work.

My heart goes out to Denise and Samuel as they adjust to life without their husband and father here to help them in this life. I am praying they find peace during this time and know how much they are loved by so many. May the Prince of Peace and Great Counselor become very real to them. I will miss Jake's presence on the Worship team. His love of our Lord resounded into the rafters when he sang and gave goosebumps to those who worshipped along with him.

Jake was such an inspiration to me and such a wonderful music mentor and friend. He took the time to positively correct me on things that I still use to this day and contribute to him. His personality is larger than and I know that he is in heaven celebrating with Jesus and singing his heart out. My thoughts and prayers are with his family who he loved and cherished.

One of the most talented pianist/vocalists I have ever worshipped with. Every song he sang/played seemed directly led by the Holy Spirit. Treasured by the church, a joyful addtion now to the choir around God's throne.
