Mr. James Leon Sargent, 80, of Alto, Ga., entered into Heaven on July 31, 2018.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Pastor Jimmy Sargent, the Rev. Bobby Griffin and Bobby Wallis will officiate. Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

James was born on Jan. 29, 1938, in New Holland, Ga. He was a retired USDA inspector and a member of Enon Baptist Church.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lena Adams Sargent; brothers, Edward, Marvin and Doug Sargent; sister-in-law, Ann Sargent.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth (Libby) Barrett Sargent; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Rondal Warwick; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Susan Sargent; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Jarl Echols; five grandchildren, Amanda Warwick, Carli Echols, Sarah Sargent, Ian Echols and Dylan Sargent; sister, Marie Butler; sister and brother-in-law, MaryAnn and Wayne Chambers; sister-in-law, Joan Sargent; sister-in-law, Ann Ryals; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sue and Charles Mumpower; and a number of other relatives.
