John Weiss, 33, of Gainesville, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 suddenly and unexpectedly. John was an aspiring IT consultant, and excited about a promising future. He was a graduate from Gainesville High school (2006), and was a defensive end on the football team. He went on to graduate from the University of South Carolina (2010) with a degree in economics. He was a proud Gamecock and member of the SAE fraternity. John was an avid reader. He enjoyed travel and outdoor sports. He excelled at wakeboarding, sailing, and snowboarding. John is survived by his parents William David and Kathleen Yorke Weiss, as well as his siblings Lauren (Chase) and William. He is also survived by his paternal aunt Susan Weiss Anderson (Matthew Anderson), his maternal uncle Michael Yorke and nephew Joshua Yorke. and maternal uncle Kevin Yorke. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John and Sara Weiss and his maternal grandparents Michael and Patricia Yorke, and maternal aunt Patricia Yorke Pease. Visitation was from 5:00 p.m., to 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 30, at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel.. A memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 31, at the First United Methodist Church on Thompson Bridge Road. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church 2780 Thompson Bridge Road Gainesville, Georgia 30506.
