Leon N. Gailey

1933 - 2021

Leon Gailey, age 87, a resident of Gillsville from Clermont passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at his home in Clermont.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 3, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park North Funeral Home in Gainesville, Georgia. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 2, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Park North.
Leon, was born April 19, 1933, in Gainesville, Georgia to Charlie and Fannie Mae (Gilstrap) Gailey, and raised in Clermont, Georgia. He graduated from Clermont High School. Leon retired from Ralston Purina in Gainesville after twenty-five years of service and later from ConAgra after sixteen years of service. Leon was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to fellowship at the annual Gailey Reunion in June of each year, trout fish, and watch college sports on TV. When he was younger, he also enjoyed tending a garden each summer and woodworking.
Leon, was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen (Dayton) Gailey; a sister and brother-in-law, Emelyn (Gailey) and Madole Glover; and brother-in-law Lester Hurley; a nephew, Jerry Glover; and niece, Diane (Hurley) Rorabaugh; sister-in-law, Sue (Dayton) Turner; and brother-in-law Dr. Sam F. Dayton.
Leon, is survived by his wife, Roberta (Watkins) Gailey of Gillsville; son and granddaughter, Joe and Ana Gailey of Ball Ground; stepdaughter and husband, Kathy and Richard Sullivan of Gillsville; step-granddaughter, Lisa Lewis of Maysville; sister, Frances Hurley of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Beth (Mauney) Dayton of Gainesville; and niece and nephew Mike and Pat Long of Gainesville. Leon, is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed spending time with. In lieu of flowers contributions maybe made to Trinity United Methodist Church WMU P.O. Box 100 Clermont, Ga. 30527.
