Margaret Parks Stowers Obituary

Margaret Parks Stowers, 75, of Lula passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at her residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Gillsville Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Pritchett and the Rev. Lamar Kastner will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, and Friday, Feb. 25, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stowers was born May 18, 1935, in Gillsville to the late Ferd Andrew Parks and Mary Lou Adams Parks. She was retired from the Gwinnett County Board of Education as a bookkeeper and was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Duluth. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Vernon Stowers; her sister, Patsy Stowers; her grandchildren, Nicholas Smith and Kayla Holmberg; and great-grandchild, Courtney Scarborough.

Mrs. Stowers is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and James Smith of Hiawassee, Karen and John Padgett of Lawrenceville, Ann and Tim Hall of Lula and Cheryl and Scott Brown of Winter Haven, Fla.; daughter, Gail Stowers of Lula; sons and daughters-in-law, Louis "Stump" and Beth Stowers of Lula and Bill and Fonda Stowers of Covington; son, Kenny Stowers of Norcross; grandsons, James Smith, Adrian Stowers, Ric Holmberg, Ethan Stowers, Patrick Hall and Robert Brown; granddaughters, Erin Cross, Katie Crider, Jessica Stowers, Misty Holmberg, Whitny Stowers, Brittney Plyler, Kasey Hall, Michelle Brown and Hilary Brown; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Parks of Buford; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504 is in charge of arrangements.

The love she had for her family was truly a wonderful thing to behold and I felt blessed to be a small part of your lives.
