Mary Wright Obituary

Mary Ruth Harwell Wright
November 12, 1926 -
August 25, 2025
Mrs. Mary Ruth Harwell Wright of Flowery Branch, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025 at the age of 98, surrounded by her family in the atmosphere of unconditional love that she always so freely gave. She was a quiet force of grace… tending to the world around her with a gentleness that left everything that she touched and everyone that she knew to experience a more beautiful world. Her love was not loud, but it was vast.
The race is finished. The sting of aging and death has been taken away. As she is cradled in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, may she hear the words ""well done, good and faithful servant.""
She was born November 12, 1926 in Danielsville, Georgia to the late William Franklin & Maude Ellen Crowe Harwell, the last remaining of 13 children.
Mrs. Wright graduated from Madison High School as Valedictorian in 1943 and moved to Brookhaven for employment with Southern Bell. There she met and married the love of her life, Mr. William ""Bill"" C. Wright. Together they built a legacy of family and love which would span 59 years. She loved watching and supporting her family in band, sports, dancing, acting, and whatever interest they were involved in. Each child through the generations had a special place in her heart, and she remembered every birthdate.
Mary was active in the PTA, the Brookhaven United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Group. She always claimed her biggest hobby was keeping up with and supporting Bill's hobbies. She was also instrumental in the family's Wright Tune Up business through her accounting and bookkeeping roles.
In 1993, Mary and Bill moved to their Lake Lanier home in Flowery Branch. She became an active member of the Flowery Branch Homemakers Club, The Flowery Branch United Methodist Church, The Golden Achievers, and the Friends of the Depot.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 5 sisters, 7 brothers, and son-in-law Dan Duncan. She is survived by her children; Joan (Roger) Bourdon; John (Nelda) Wright; Janice (Joe) LaFramboise, and Jeff (Kelly) Wright. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and close friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Memorial Park South Chapel with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Rev. Kathie Stasko will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
