Michael Henry Forrester

1947 - 2023

Michael Henry Forrester, age 75, of Mexico Beach, FL, formerly of Gainesville, GA, passed peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2023. Michael was born in Atlanta, GA, on September 27, 1947, to the late Odell and Evelyn Forrester. Following service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Michael was employed as an electrician at General Motors for 35 years. During that time, he attended Chestnut Mountain Baptist Church where he was a deacon. His post-retirement duties consisted solely of being the best grandfather of all time and pouring into the grandchildren his masterfully quick wit, his appreciation that brevity is the very soul of that wit (I'm trying to make this quick, Dad), and his understanding that our time together is the single, most beautiful gift of all. His legacy shines brightly in his grandchildren: Andrew King (Amber), of Raleigh, NC; Alex King of Charleston, SC; Anna Belle King of Easley, SC; and Caroline, Lauren and Emily Forrester of Cumming, GA. Along with his parents, Michael was predeceased by his wife of 50 years and mother of his children, Helen Henderson Forrester. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Hill Forrester of Mexico Beach, FL; his children, Amber Forrester King of Easley, SC, and Adam Forrester (Jill) of Cumming, GA, and his brothers, Don Forrester (Vera) and Jeff Forrester (Gayle), all of Gainesville, GA. Services were held Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Memorial Park Chapel, 2030 Memorial Park Drive, Gainesville, GA 30504. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Eagle Ranch at 5500 Union Church Road, Flowery Branch, GA 30542.
