Mildred Irene Saxon Obituary

Mildred Irene Saxon, age 88, of Gainesville passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Gateway Health & Rehab following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Drewery Loggins and the Rev. Allen Roper will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, from 5–8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Saxon was born Sept. 23, 1924, in Gainesville, Ga., to the late George Cagle and Ruby A. Jordon Cagle. She retired from Warren Featherbone with 47 years of service. Mildred was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Paul Saxon.

Mrs. Saxon is survived by her sisters, Madge Cagle, Gainesville; and Martha Sue Lowe, Statesboro, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and William R. Matteson, Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Rachel Echols, Alto; and Anita Collins, Lula; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Lavern Saxon, Lula; and Grady and Linda Saxon, Lula; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 3650 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA, 30504.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504, is in charge of arrangements.

I miss you Aunt Irene, so much. You and Paul and Aunt Madge. Y'all were like the grandparents we never had. Only younger and with lots of energy! Now all you Cagle sisters are together. Love you!
