Phyllis Seabolt Obituary

Phyllis Dickey Seabolt, a loving and resilient woman, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness on December 5, 2023, at the age of 84. Born in Millen, Georgia, on February 23, 1939, she spent her years embracing life, always ready for the next adventure. A long-time resident of Gainesville, Georgia, Phyllis was known for her love of conversation, infectious sense of humor, and independent spirit. Her love for life was evident in her many hobbies, which included traveling the world, playing bridge, dancing, reading, watching old movies, and spending time with friends and family. Phyllis led a life filled with joy and a love for new experiences. Her adventurous spirit took her across the globe, yet her favorite voyages were the ones that led her home to her family. A devoted homemaker, Phyllis found great joy in creating a warm, welcoming space for her loved ones, filled with hearty laughter and endless stories. An avid bridge player, she was often surrounded by friends at the card table, her spirit of fun and hospitality shining through. As a member of First Baptist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class, she found solace, fellowship, and a deep connection to her faith. Phyllis was a beacon of love, offering her heart to her many friendships, both long-time and new. Phyllis was preceded in death by Hugh Seabolt, her husband of 28 years; her parents, Maurice and Vada Dickey; her brothers, Rex and Marshall Dickey; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Laura Seabolt; and her sister-in-law, Sue Cisson. She is survived by her children, Amy (Jeff) Lawson and Clay Seabolt; her grandchildren, Landry (Gay Anne) Haynes, Casey (Melanie) Lawson, Carrie (Andrew) Phillips, Chloe Seabolt, and Nate Seabolt; her great-granddaughters, Molly Phillips and Mackey Haynes; her siblings-in-law, Jerry (Pat) Seabolt, David (Bobbie) Seabolt, and Gene Cisson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis's memory will be cherished by her family and her many friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church, located at 751 Green Street, NW Gainesville, GA 30501, with visitation to follow in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The USO, American Cancer Society, Disabled American Veterans, or First Baptist Church of Gainesville Ministry of Caring in honor of Phyllis Seabolt. We encourage those who knew and loved Phyllis to honor her life by sharing memories and uploading photos on her memorial page. Dahlonega Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I'm so sorry that I didn't know that Phyllis had passed away. She was one of my best friends in school. She stayed with me at times when she came to Waynesboro. She talked about how proud of her children and grandkids she was. She will surely be missed. I'm sure she and Hugh are celebrating in the beautiful garden of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Sincerely
