Today I think of you, as i often do..
Some people stay with you on your mind from time to time but always in your heart even though can no longer see.
For my lifetime you will always remain that special someone who God blessed me of knowing you!
Two years have now passed but the hurt of your leaving this earth still has a impact.
I think many that knew you will always feel this way as you truly made a difference in people's life's Rick.
Today, tomorrow & always I will remember you.

Dear Rick
It is hard to believe a year has passed now.
I think of you often I miss you.
One of the memories from when I last visited you so typical of who you were.
You had stopped by the side of the road just down from your house &had a possum by the tail which you placed from the road onto the grass bank so it would be at safety.
There is nothing can can alleviate the loss, hurt,& pain of losing a special someone like you.
I remember you with love, & respect you are forever alive in my heart.
The reality is you can grieve for forever, you heal but I feel there is a void for always.
If I could send a message to heaven
I would say thank you for sharing in my life always there, & so many treasured memories I have to stay in my heart.
My thoughts prayers & hugs are with Florence,Richie,Laura today.
All your family that loved you.
Those we love & loose are forever connected by heartstrings into "infinity."
You will forever mean the world to me.

A thousand pups and kitties are all standing at heaven's door to welcome this man who singlehandedly saved so many. He leaves a legacy of compassion and love for all of God's creatures. My deepest sympathy.

Rick was a wonderful man and an animal lover beyond compare. I used to have Rick bring pets to my classroom to teach students about caring for and loving animals. I am sure he changed many of those young lives. Rick once asked me if he could bring two of his favorite pets. I assured him that he could. He showed up with two boa constrictors wrapped around his arms! Snake phobic that I am, I stood in the hall and watched through a window in my classroom door. The students loved his presentation (as always) and even some who were initially frightened at the sight of the snakes, slowly went up to 'pet' them. Their teacher, however, remained cowering in the hall. Rick winked at me as he left and said, "Maybe one day, you will want to pet one of these beauties." I guess it's time to 'fess up'. Knowing that if I went through bureaucratic channels for
permission to have Rick and his pets visit my classes, the answer would probably have been a resounding, 'NO". So, I took matters into my own hands whenever Rick visited and I would let him into the third wing door of GHS and we'd slip into my classroom. That little bit of intrigue remained our secret over the years. RIP, Rick. You were a great man and touched more young people's lives than you ever imagined!

Florence, I am saddened by Rick´s passing. Rick was a great man. He will always be remembered by the countless families and individuals that he helped. The number of dogs and puppies that he tirelessly saved and worked so hard for. Rick is a champion of caring for those he nursed back to health. There are two men in Hall County that are true legends for their care and compassion for the lost ,sick and unwanted pets. Rick Aiken and Dr. John Sundstrom . Both true heroes. I will always remember. With respect and admiration. Praying for you

My Dearest Rick.
You were a amazing humane being & will be missed by many.
Having had the honor of working with you for 24years at the Humane Society.
Your love of animals showed in everything you done truly a legend I the animal field.
You simply were a man of integrity honesty, compassionate always.
I learnt so much from your leadership as did others.
You were & always be a legend in the animal field it all began with your dedication setting goals to lead the Humane Society in a good direction!
Many nights when bad weather was predicted you would take a cot & generator incase power was lost so the animals could be cared for & spend nights.
If the roads were going to be iced over you would pick staff up in your vehicle to make sure there was staff on duty to care for the animals.
You truly were a amazing man & will be so missed.
My Dearest Rick you were like a older brother to me after your retirement always there.
My love for you is eternal you left footprints on my heart.
I will miss you so very much!

My Dear friend Rick,
Words can not express my sadness hearing of your passing
You were truly a amazing man, it is a honor to have had you in my life for over 33years.
Working alongside you for 24yrs was a pleasure well we were both very hardheaded in the earlier years, some of the staff would stay clear when we had our challenging times.
But when you have respect for one another we alway's made it work because we had such a passion for the animals in our care.
Since you retired we stayed in touch.
How could I ever forget a man who then was there for me when I felt like my heart had been shattered in a million pieces you were even in another State too.
What did you tell me I believe in you the words still go through my mind many years later!
I believed in you the staff believed in you we had such a difficult job back then for sure.
A man who helped his staff personally when in a bind some never knowing.
You gave us the opportunity to do our best trusting us work as a team using each of our best qualities as we certainly all had different ones.
I am proud to be able to call you my friend you will leave footprints on my heart for alway's.
You when our work days were over felt you could give a hug, say I love you this did not take place in the workplace.
You taught many things which made me a better person.
My ex boss, my dear friend just Ike a older brother
I love you till eternity.
