Tyler Wahl Safarriyeh Obituary
A public celebration service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Johns Creek United Methodist Church located at 1180 Medlock Bridge Road in Johns Creek with Senior Pastor D. B. Shelnutt Jr. officiating. A private burial will held at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell.
Tyler was born in Atlanta on June 5, 1999, the oldest child of Jeffrey and Carrie (Pennington) Safarriyeh. A thriving student and athlete, Tyler was a fifth-grader at Findley Oaks Elementary School. He was a wonderful friend, known for a smile and head of hair as full of life as he was.
When he wasn't in school or running with his friends in the park across from his home in Seven Oaks, Tyler could be found on the sports field or in the stands cheering on his favorite Bulldogs. He played baseball for Ocee Park and football for the Johns Creek Youth Football Association, working toward achieving his lifelong dream of playing for the University of Georgia.
Tyler will be dearly missed by his loving siblings, younger brother, Brandon and sister, Ella; his grandparents, Mike and Donna Safarriyeh of Duluth and Durward and Betsy Pennington of Gainesville; as well as Uncle Greg and Aunt Michelle (Safarriyeh) Straka and cousins, Nick, Hannah and Emily; Uncle Travis Safarriyeh; Uncle Todd and Aunt Melissa Pennington; Aunt Susan and Uncle Marcus Rosetti and cousins Sophie, Grant and Olivia; and countless teammates and friends. He loved all deeply, but at the end of the day he wanted to be with his family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville. In lieu of flowers, the family invites others to help Tyler's spirit live on through helping others by contributing to the Tyler Safarriyeh Memorial Fund, c/o Keyworth Bank, 11655 Medlock Bridge Road, Johns Creek, GA 30097.
Though Tyler's life was too short, it was as charmed and adventurous as any child could ever wish. He was a leader and protector, and lived each day to the fullest with dedication, amusement and sport. Born the ultimate team player, Tyler cared deeply for his family, friends and athletics. That love resonates in all who were fortunate to know him and will live on in our hearts and on the fields of the Johns Creek area always.

Today, I dropped my son off at LA Fitness, and then took my dog to Seven Oaks to walk him. My son is 17 years old, and an athlete in Lacrosse at Northview HS. I was in that circular park area and read Tyler's name on the benches there. I wrote his name down and got home and looked him up and found this site. I don't know you or Tyler, but I since I have two boys, his death gripped my heart. I'm crying just reading all these beautiful condolences. One day you will meet up with your son, again. This life goes so fast so it doesn't seem far for any of us. What a great reunion you will have with Tyler. Jesus Christ said "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

Dear Carrie and Jeff,
You do not know us but we are friends of Betsy and Durward. As we live in Amelia Island, we sometimes get our news from Gainesville long after the fact. John and I felt great sadness for you and your family at the loss of your son, Tyler. It is surely a pain beyond human understanding. We have been thinking of you.
I felt compelled to write as we lost our grandson at the age of 19 so we know the depth of your parents' grief. It sounds as if Tyler was a beloved child and had many friends who will miss him. Our prayer is that you will be sustained by God's love as well as the love of those around you.

Even though we didn't know Tyler very well, we knew he was an awesome kid. Chris had a great time playing baseball with him even if it was for a short time. The D'Backs won their championship game for Tyler. Tyler definetly touched all of the boy's lives and our family and the entire Ocee Park family is praying for you through this tough time. I have never met you but I play golf with Greg. I have two daughters 7 and 5 and my heart broke for you when I heard about your son. All though there is no way I can understand or feel what you are going through just thinking about it brought on emotions I have never felt and tears. My wife and I have been praying for your family. I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. Your family is in my prayers. I've never met your family however, I was getting off the plane in Atlanta when I saw your family's grief. I didn't even know what had happened, but I began to cry just from the raw emotion that I saw. I began to pray for your family and the crisis that was going on. I was then told by a bystander what had happened. I continue to pray for your family every day. May God give you peace and comfort in such a difficult time.
