Zelma (Praytor) Phillips Obituary

Zelma (Praytor) Phillips, 95, of Cleveland, formerly of DeKalb County, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Bill Head Funeral Home Lilburn/Tucker Chapel with the Rev. Chet Fowler officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Decatur.
Mrs. Phillips was born on Columbus Day, Oct. 12, 1912, in Newmarket, Ala., attended the University of Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro and had nurses training in Birmingham, Ala. She was the third policewoman hired by DeKalb County in 1951 and worked there eight years. Mrs. Phillips and her late husband, Bob Phillips, owned and operated Playland Roller Skating Center on Buford Highway in Chamblee.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Beverly Boatwright of Gainesville, Barbara Kayfetz of Bolinas, Calif., and Betsy and Robert Fowler of Shady Dale; grandchildren, Lynn Cason, Richard Spindell, David Spindell, Scott Thomas and Brooke England; great-grandchildren, Kristin Kozar, Justin Thomas, Meghan Thomas, Connor Thomas, Rosie Spindell, Bryce England, Ethan England, Allyson Thomas and Bethany Thomas.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory Lilburn/Tucker Chapel.
