Rhudy Harmon Obituary
He was a retired watchmaker.
Harmon served proudly in the U.S. Navy as a diesel mechanic during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Thelma Lawson Harmon; his parents, brothers and sisters.
Survivors include son and daughter in-law, Reiford Talmadge and Louise Q. Harmon of Hillsville; granddaughter, Shannon Jones and friend Marc Hicks of Hillsville; grandson, Anthony Shane Harmon of Hillsville; sister in-law, Marie Harmon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with Elder Ronald Bowman and Elder Edward Bowman officiating. Burial followed at Monta Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery in Galax.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m.. The family requests no food, please.
Flowers will be appreciated but the family prefers a memorial be made to your favorite church or to the Wounded Warrior program.

I'm so sorry to learn of Mr.Harmon's passing. Would some one be so kind to let me know who his parents and grandparents were???? We all go back to the first Harmon's to come to this country. I am a direct descendant. I would love to try to connect Mr. Rhudy to his ancestors. I have all these early ancestors and will be glad to share if anyone is interested. Thank you in advance.
