Russell Nelson Obituary
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ila Gardner Nelson.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Nelson of the home; daughter, Angie Reece of Dublin; son, Ricky Nelson of Woodlawn; sisters, Vernie Largen of Hillsville and Nancy King of Collinsville; brothers and sister-in-law, Maynard Nelson of Salem and Jimmy and Barbara Nelson of Collinsville; grandchildren and spouse, Justin and Jessica Reece of Pulaski, Travis Reece of Radford, Garrett Nelson of Woodlawn and Ruston Nelson of Woodlawn; great-grandchildren, Hailey Reece and Gavin Reece; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Bays officiating. Burial followed in the Nelson Cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home Chapel is serving the Nelson family.

I had known Russell since we were teenagers.I will remember all the good times we had together. Sometimes we worked together...sometimes I worked for him. I will always have fond memories of Russell as i have known him from the time i was in my early teens. My mom and stepdad James and Bernice Padgett really though alot of Russell. Charlene Angie and Rickey....I know this is such a hard time but we all can be proud of what a legacy Russell left behind. Today driving down main street proved that...He was definitely one of a kind...one of the few that always believed in me and always had a kind word....not to mention a crazy story to tell.Just keep remembering all the good times.I will never forget him. So sorry to hear of Russell's death. He was a kind and caring person. I'll always remember when one time I took my vehicle to his garage to get something fixed. It was going to take awhile and he insisted that I take his pickup and do whatever I needed to do instead of having to wait there at the garage.
I don't believe that would happen at any other garage.

Russell was one of a kind. He took wonderful care of his customers and treated them as friends. Several years ago, I had a literal lemon of a car that would break down frequently. Russell noted my frustration and assured me that no matter where I was, he would come get me and he did! I will really miss him.
