Thomas Morton Obituary

Thomas Carlie (Tom) Morton, 73, of Independence, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at his home.
He was born Nov. 22, 1938, at Independence, to the late Carlie Morton and Mattie Rose Murray Morton.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Anderson Morton of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Clark and Renee Morton of Richmond; one granddaughter; one grandson; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, H. C. Anderson, Johnny and Susan Anderson and Jacky and Kippy Anderson of Independence; one aunt, Sue Morton of Independence; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends;
A memorial service was held at noon on Saturday at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, with burial in Bridle Creek Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by Grayson County VFW Post 7726.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 4335 Cox Road, Glen Allen, Va. 23060 or the American Cancer Society, c/o Iva Easter, 1235 Beaver Dam Road, Hillsville, Va. 24343 or Grayson County Relay for Life, c/o Mary McKnight, 2991 Grayson Parkway, Independence, Va. 24348.
