William Leath Obituary
Randy was born in Grayson County, on Aug. 10, 1952, to the late William Haswell and Mary Ellen Frazier Leath.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Diane Cole Leath.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Veronica and B.J. Carico and Jessica and John Bedwell; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Amanda Leath and David and Freedom Leath, all of Galax; seven grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Georgia and Doug Hooven of Galax, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Loretta Leath of Ennice, N.C.; brothers-in-law and spouses, Bobby and Nora Cole of Elk Creek and Mitchell and Janet Cole of Galax; sister-in-law, Nancy Black of Eaton Ville, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel with Guy Russell officiating. Burial followed in the McKenzie Cemetery.

Met Randy in basic training at ft dix in 1972. Randy was one of my squad leaders who was one hell of a nice guy. I always remembered him all these years and had hoped he had a good life. Was just looking up some of the fellows who I served with and I am very sorry to hear of his passing, although a little late, i offer my condolences. I can honestly say he was one of the nicest people I've ever met.

I first met Randy 25 years ago when I moved to this area. First off, he took care of the problem for which I contacted him. But, what blew me away was his sense of humor. He was so funny and larger than life. Always treated me right. My prayers go out for him and his family. Rest easy my friend.

So sorry to hear of randys passing. Randy was such a good and happy go lucky man. I have known Randy for 40 years. He was an amazing backhoe operator and i was so fortunate to have him as a friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to randys family as they go through the difficult days ahead.

My sincere sympathy to the Leath family. Randy was a high school student of mine, and he was always such a kind person with a smile for all. The last time I saw him was at Creekside, (Dec, or Jan., I believe) where he and I both had gone for a meal. We chatted a while and he left before I did. When I started to pay for my meal, I learned he had already paid for mine. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing. God bless each of you.

So sorry we could not be there. Smiley had just gotten home from the hospital from having surgery. Randy was one of a kind. We loved him dearly. Davy and Amanda loved him too. Love and prayers, Debbie and Smiley

Our hearts were saddened to hear of Randy’s passing. He did work for us and Joe worked close with him on projects at work. And we considered him a good friend! May God bless you all and give you the strength and peace you need. Randy will be missed in our community!
