Althea Buehler Obituary

Althea J. Buehler, born January 3, 1937, died July 20, 2025, 88 years young, following a brief illness.

She is survived by her children Rev. Lori, Steeve, Monty (Winter) and Julie; 5 grandchildren (Zachary, Emily, Annie Rose, Aaron & Vincent), 2 great grandchildren (Jensen & Henryk), sister Susan & special nieces Audra & Sonya and nephew Eric, devoted sister-in-law Pauline, and many friends and relatives. Preceded in death by her previous husband G. Wayne Buehler and special companions Pete Babnis and Everett Lyle.

In honor of her late parents, Wayne P & Marjorie VanVranken, she established the VanVranken Scholarship Fund with the Elk County Community Foundation for students pursuing higher education in the fields of music or medicine.

She earned her BSN at the University of Michigan and kept her nursing license active for decades as she served as the informal nurse to extended family and friends.

She resided at Treasure Lake and recently at The Fountains at DuBois, and previously enjoyed many winters in South Carolina.

Althea enjoyed playing piano, directing and singing in church choirs, and often broke into song to fit any situation; cruises with dear friend Carlotta, sewing, golfing and entertaining.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harbor View Presbyterian Church, 900 Harbor View Rd, in Charleston, SC 29412 for new choir music.

She was an organ donor in spirit. Arrangements by Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., burial of ashes at Oakmont Cemetery with her parents in Ridgway, PA.

A service will be held at the family's convenience.
