Cloy M. Beck

1932 - 2024

Cloy M. Beck, age 92, of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of Luthersburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024 at her home.

Born in Luthersburg, Pennsylvania on April 17, 1932, Cloy grew up fully immersed in country life. She often shared stories of growing up on the farm, polka and square dancing, and family gatherings. At the age of 20, she married Alvin Beck. The newlyweds waltzed their way to Upper St. Clair, just south of Pittsburgh. Here they raised their four children, Barbie, Martha, Joe and Kim, instilling values of patience, resilience, and kindness that have become her family's lasting legacy.

Cloy was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, cherished for her feisty personality, quick-wit, and unique sense of humor. She had a special gift for crafting beautiful creations with just yarn and a crochet hook. Her handmade gifts of love and artistic expression will continue to brighten the lives of her family and friends forevermore. Cloy loved her family more than anything. She also enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, lively games of dominoes, westerns, and answering game show questions faster than anyone else in the room.

For many, Cloy will be remembered for her years as a spirited bartender at the Beadling Sports Club where she worked for twenty-five years. Cloy was more than an employee; she was a friend and confidante who loved helping others, and worked to shape the club's place in the community, by volunteering, and helping to organize social events like the annual corn roast, Christmas party, and soccer banquets. Cloy helped so many in the community, she made Beadling feel like a home away from home.

Cloy is survived by her children, Martha Soltrick, Joseph (Molly) Beck, Kimberly (Greg) Heckler, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Beck; daughter, Barbara Craig; and son-in-law, Dennis Soltrick.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc.

A celebration of Cloy's life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11 AM from St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Luthersburg, PA with Patricia Miller officiating.

Burial will be in Luthersburg Union Cemetery.
