Marian Martell Obituary
Marian Geraldine Martell, age 83 of Morrisdale, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 23, 2022 at her daughter's residence in West Decatur surrounded by her loved ones.
Born March 23, 1939, in Morrisdale, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Wanda (Pase) Evans.
On August 21, 1982 she wed Gilbert Martell who preceded her in death on January 10, 2021.
Surviving are her children, Matthew Welker and wife Lois, Philipsburg; Melody English and husband Roy, Winslow, AZ; Mark Welker and companion Sue Newman, Clearfield; Monica Sanderbeck and fiancé Mike Graham, West Decatur; Melissa Lukens and husband Jason, Wallaceton; her grandchildren; Bill Welker, Scott Welker, Jeremy English, Sara Schaller, Kurtis English, Luke Welker, Amanda Welker, Adam Welker, Mariah Shimmel, Damarcus Law, Samantha Ostrofsky, Benjamin Lukens, Bailey Lukens, Ivorie Law, Jennifer Wesesky, Megan Graham; her great-grandchildren, Kristen Welker, Kolton Welker, Dana English, Sabrina Schaller, William Schaller, Benjamin Schaller, Timothy Schaller, Michael Welker, Mikala Welker, Omillion Welker, Precious Welker, Gunner Welker, Bree Welker, Alana Welker, Arlen Welker, Mia Shimmel and Micah Shimmel.
Also surviving are her siblings, Dewey Evans and wife Rachel, Jetta McClure; David Evans and wife Sharon; Dale Anne Kratz and husband Larry and Rosalind Emigh and husband James.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Genevieve Millard and a brother, Stanley Evans.
Mary was a lifetime member of the Morris Twp. Volunteer Fire Company, Morrisdale. She enjoyed working at Bingo and everyone who worked with her. She loved playing bingo as well as traveling to Atlantic City and Salamanca, NY with her husband, sisters and two great friends, Margaret and Suzie. She also enjoyed playing cards until the wee hours of the morning. In her younger years she and her husband enjoyed dancing. Her free time was spent playing piano, crafting, doing yardwork and she especially loved to make everyone laugh by pulling pranks.
She will be greatly missed by all of her family and especially her great-granddaughter, Mia, age 2, who loved spending time with her coloring, watching cartoons, sharing afternoon snacks and tucking her in bed at night.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 6-8:00 PM at Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale and again on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 9-10:45 am at the funeral home with the funeral services at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Matt Scott officiating.
She will be laid to rest in the Palestine United Methodist Cemetery, Morrisdale.
