C.E. Nixon Obituary

GASTONIA - C.E. "Nick" Nixon, 92, died Feb. 3, 2012, at his residence.

He was a native of Lincoln County, son of the late Frank Brevard Nixon and Nellie Asbury Mundy Nixon.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Gaston Memorial Park.

A Celebration of Life will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Gastonia with the Rev. Dr. James Westmoreland and the Rev. C.B. Barr officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the Celebration of Life in the Family Life Center of the First United Methodist Church.

C.E. was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gastonia for over 67 years. He was a US Army WWII Veteran, charter member of The City Club of Gastonia, member of the Civitan Club, Eagles Club and the Elks Club. C.E. was the founder of Nixon Exterminating Inc. and served on the North Carolina Pest Control Board.

Survivors include his sons, Phil Nixon and wife Terri of Gastonia, Frank Nixon and wife Ann of Tarpon Springs, Florida, grandchildren, Laura Tucker and husband David of Singapore, Amanda Skeen and husband Matt of Charlotte, Sara Nixon of Charlotte, Mary Nixon of Lake Wylie, great grandchil-dren, Lili Tucker, Avery Tucker and Eily Ann Tucker of Singapore, Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Pratt Nixon, son, Daniel Pratt Nixon, brother, Frank Brevard Nixon, Jr. sisters, Evelyn Nixon, Juanita Cleveland and Sathelle Nixon.

Honorary pallbearers, David Stowe, William Cleveland, David Harris, Dan Willis, Walter Rhyne, Jerry Goins, Bill Dunster, Brian Greeson and Alf Ruff.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers Jeanne Roberts and Donna Tindol.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church P.O. Box 218 Gastonia, N.C. 28053 or to the Gaston Literacy Council, Inc. 116 South Mari-etta Street Gastonia, NC.

Phil and Terri, You know we have always thought the world of your parents, they were quite the characters and we loved them and will miss them. He is finally at rest and with his beloved Dot now. Take comfort in God's grace and mercy that there is a final end to this life and we move on to a better place with our father in heaven.
